ServiceTracker 5 - Technical

  • How to install ServiceTracker 5 locally or on a LAN,Terminal Server or Citrix environment.

  • ServiceTracker 5 Uses the Microsoft Access 2007 Framework. Each User must have FULL ADMIN permissions to the ST5 directory (not just read write) other wise the Database will open in read only mode.

  • Access 2007 defaults to blocking all macros on any Database stored outside of the MS Office Wizard folders. This causes a popup everytime the user opens ServiceTracker
To resolve, the user needs to add the location of ServiceTracker as a Trusted Location.

  • Sometimes when users are accessing ServiceTracker via Terminal Server (Remote Desktop) the connection is interrupted on the network from the data server / NAS. This leaves MS Access in a locked State that causes the following error "Your network access was interrupted. To continue, close the database, and then open it again"

Often the cause is that the Main Server was rebooted whilst users were still connected to ServiceTracker via terminal server (even if logged out of Terminal Server, but left ServiceTracker open.)

To fix this issue, ALL users need to be logged out, but sometimes this cant be done successfully, and each session/process has to be terminated by the administrator
